bit.ly Feng shui, literally translated from the Chinese, means “wind, water” and traditionally symbolizes the space between heaven and earth the environment where we live. The philosophy recognizes that house and garden should work together relative to life, health, wealth and happiness. In Hong Kong, the capital of feng shui, the ancient knowledge survived the Cultural Revolution that swept over Mainland China during the 60s and 70s. This film looks at the roots of feng shui with masters demonstrating how the ancient Chinese science is still deeply rooted in the everyday lives of people living here. To them feng shui is much more than simply a new trend in interior design. The influence feng shui has on their lifestyle and the mentality of Hong Kong people is told through comical, unusual and everyday stories. For example, you will see an apartment building, in the Aberdeen quarter, that has 400 square meter hole in the front, so that the “mountain dragon” still has a view of the ocean. We will observe well-known feng shui at work. This spans from the lot selection, the positioning and the conception of the house, straight down to details about the interior design. They offer their expertise on the best positioning for the front door, the suitable color of the walls and floors, right up to the positioning of a desk. We are introduced, step-by-step, to the terms and categories of feng shui. On our excursion through Hong Kong, we visit the Wong Tai Sin monastery, which

@lisareidmitchell The first thing I would do is hang a curtain in front of your washer & dryer. The curtain should be green to counter the water element of the washer. When you walk in your front door you want to be greeted not with the prospect of more work but with the ability to relax and the rest of the house should inspire you to do/be more! – Lynn

@asratoday, A south facing door can bring in business all day but if you only serve lunch and dinner then West is preferred but not at all required. If you serve breakfast and lunch then an East facing door would support the morning rush. North is not recommended at all.

@LynnGoldstone

Is there a more beneficial direction to have the door facing for a food business?

This presentation very simply explains the history and concepts of Feng Shui. I especially liked the list of things that Feng Shui is not commonly known for, moving from the personal to the community. The narrator gently leads the listener along an easy to follow path, where one comment flows sensibly into the next. Well done!!

Dear Lynn
I was wondering to know if I have to use the ba gua map for each room or for the whole house. I am very confuse about this. Some ask for the plan floor of the house and what about if I do not have one. Please answer my questions. Thanks

Good explanation about feng shui.

Being dyslexic I have found the easiest book for me to understand and use is Lillian Too’s Easy-to-Use Feng Shui: 168 Ways to Success. It made it very easy for me. Lillian Too practices compass Feng Shui. The true Feng Shui. American Black Cat which is always based on the door you use and walk in does not change. It is not based on the person or the direction of the house. It is easy but to me not right. Do not just enhance one area this could be bad. Feng Shui is about Harmony and balance!

Do you have to feng shui your computer. If you are getting rid of clutter in your home maybe you should get rid of some stuff on your pc. When I think about all of the spam and unread emails I can feel my heart sinking slightly. This is negative chi surely.

Great video thank you! A concise high level introduction.

Strictly speaking, you can only be of one element. So in chinese your day is called “li chun” So its considered the snake element As Chinese new year is the first day of the lunar calender year of the snake. You are a Heaven pillar earth, Earth pillar snake(Fire) Based on the four pillars of destiny.

i lost my sister 2 yrs ago, and i ve been having a lot of difficulties dealing with her death. miss her a lot she was 51 , i was 48.. both my parents are dead, and i ve got a selfish older sister… i am married with 2 kids… but i do miss a lot my sis.. i cry every day

Excuse me, I’m really new to this.. But do you know any good books that I can buy about Feng Shui so that I can practice it more often? Because as of now I’m experiencing some bad manifestations from my thoughts which are very unhealthy and I tend to be stressed-out by a lot of things.. like financially, personally, etc.. Thank You! Dear Mia. The Chinese New Year is celebrated on the second new moon following the winter solstice and will fall between January 21 and February 19 on the Gregorian calender. After a little research, the Chinese New Year did occur on February, 5 1989. Because your birthday falls right on the New Year you are both Dragon and Snake not one or the other.
Warm Regards – Lynn
