During China’s Cultural Revolution, nearly all Tibet’s monasteries were ransacked and destroyed by the Red Guards. Estimates put at more than 1.2 million Tibetans, one-fifth of the country’s population. Over 6000 monasteries, temples and other cultural and historical buildings were destroyed and their contents destroyed or pillaged. The Chinese Cultural Revolution was launched by Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong in 1966. It was an attempt to rid China of so-called capitalist roaders and to restore Maos power within the party. In the end, the Revolution intended to save the country ultimately destroyed it. The Cultural Revolution eliminated the freedom of people all over China for a time span of over 10 years and greatly injured the country both economically and culturally; from this we can learn that stifling a groups free will can have negative effects on the stability of the entire country. During the Cultural Revolution many pieces of art and historically significant artifacts were destroyed; this was a severe blow to Chinas culture. One of the first victims of the Cultural Revolution was a play. Hai Rui Dismissed from Office depicted a man who criticized the emperor as a hero. When the Cultural Revolution began, this play was seen as an attack on Mao and its author was imprisoned. In 1966, Mao called on the Red Guards, Maos followers, to destroy Four Olds (previous Chinese objects, customs, habits, and ideas). Priceless historical objects were now dangerous items …

@KatiushaVN4 First of all, wiki did not say anyting about vietnamese created the eggroll. but ok, if by having different ingredients in the eggroll is same as copying, many asian cultures have “copied” many aspects from the chinese culture then? remember, culture is meant to share. culture is not meant to “own” like a personal computer. it seems to me you have something against the chinese in the first place, more than just a few eggrolls.
@tangjkd
Chinese are famous of copying things from others…LOL
@KatiushaVN4 no, i want to hear YOUR reason behind it, not someone else’s.
@tangjkd
You can do a research yourself as lots of information online these days.
@KatiushaVN4 you got proof that egg roll was created in vietnam?
@tangjkd
Again, you’re so stupid. At least the Vietnamese never claim that chopstick is their invention, right?? However, the Chinese claim egg roll to be their own dish. Well, they can cook and eat egg-roll all they want, but please stop claiming stupid things.
You see, 2 different issues, right? Use your head!!!
@KatiushaVN4 you got proof that shows egg roll was originated by Vietnamese? ok, let’s say it was created in vietnam. What is the problem? cultures are meant to be shared. you dont hear chinese people complaining “those fucking vietnamese, stop using chopsticks, that’s our invention” right?
@tangjkd
You stupid. I’ve never said that I don’t like egg roll. You fool. What I said was that the Chinese better stop claiming Vietnamese egg roll as their cuisine.
@KatiushaVN4 So why you dont like egg roll? I dont understand.
@tangjkd
Yeah yeah give me a break!
@KatiushaVN4 egg roll is very common throughout asia. But every country has their own special ingredients.
@GeneralHoohah animal cruelty is everywhere around the world. not just in china. I’m assuming you are talking specifically on fur trade right? China is not the only one. Finland, France, England, and many african countries do that as well.
@KatiushaVN4 I dont think egg roll is only for vietnamese. I think egg roll is pretty common throughout asia in general. but every country has their own special ingredients.
Eggroll is Vietnamese cuisine. You f**cking Chinese are better off cooking your cuisine only.
@lolozai91
(final)
That being said, I like China and I enjoy traveling there. I may disagree with some of their policies, like in their relations with the third world for example, or their disregard for the environment or human health in pursuit of profit. However, China has many redeeming qualities as well. The government took nearly a billion people out of poverty, human rights have improved, the Chinese people are generally kindhearted, they have a vibrant and marvelous society…etc.
@lolozai91
(continued 2)
When I brought up the Revolution, I was referring to how the people and the new government destroyed buildings and art, burned books, rejected the values of the previous generations…all violently and in short time. There began a sudden influx of foreign ideas including new economic and political systems in the decades after that re-shaped the entire society. Most people also believe that culture is something “passed down”, but the older culture certainly was not.
lol occupy wall street
communism is just another form of human slavery.
yeah this cultural revo was fucking brutal. Even Mao’s successor Deng Xiaoping’s son got paralized by the red guards. Damn. I think Mao went too far with this cultural revolution. Mao believed that confucianism held the Chinese back. Mao wanted to be Qin Shi Huang Di who united China and destroyed every other ancient chinese state artifacts.
my grandparents were professors during the cultural revolution. they have told me some really fucked up stories about what the red guard did to them
thats some fucked up shit
Maoism is pile of Shit. Mao is dog. Communism is devil.
